A gold medal winner in the family is certainly something to be proud of, but four winners is even better.
All four of the Bunt children, Jye, Simone, Kimberly and Owen, took out gold medals in the Australian State Hockey Championships late last year.
"We are very proud of them, what they've accomplished is fantastic," said their father, Paul Bunt.
All four siblings were selected for the 2005 state teams for their age group, Simone in the under-21s for NSW and Kimberly in the under-18s.
And all four won gold medals in their age division team competition.
Owen captained the under-14s NSW boys team, while elder brother Jye decided to accept an invitation to play for he under-21s ACT team, hoping to eventually play internationally.
"I decided to try out for the ACT side, hoping to eventually move into playing for the Australian Hockey League (AHL)," he said.
The AHL is considered the world's premier hockey competition, home to some of the world's top players, including South Australian Hockeyroo Carmel Souter and Kookaburra player, Craig Victory.
Both players represent Australian hockey internationally.
"I'm trying out for the AHL team in Canberra and I'm looking at hopefully getting into the World Cup team. That's my goal," said Jye.
If Jye does make selection, he could have the opportunity to represent Australia at an international level in the 2007 Hockey World Cup, facing off against some of hockey's biggest international names.
