Garrard's five goals get Mittagong home

29 Aug, 2005 12:14 PM
Mittagong forward Ben Garrard went on a five-goal scoring spree to help his team secure a 7-5 victory over Burrawang at Welby on Saturday.

The Mittagong side was in fine form throughout the high-scoring match, with the team's forwards working overtime to consistently break through the Burrawang defence to have the score at 7-3 at one point in the game.

The game looked to be a good contest from the beginning of the match, with both teams scoring good goals to have the score at 2-all in the final minutes of the first half.

However, Mittagong signalled their intentions in the last two minutes of the second half by putting away a sneaky goal to have the score line at 3-2 going into the second half.

Mittagong came back out from the half-time break firing on all cylinders, putting away a quick goal five minutes into the second half to have the score at 4-2.

The side then went on a scoring rampage, putting away three more impressive goals to have the score at 7-3.

Burrawang continued to work hard to get themselves back into the match, bouncing back with two quick goals from some superb passing in the last five minutes of the match to have the final scoreline of 7-5.
