Foursome title goes to the wire

The final of the foursomes championship was recorded during the week resulting in a win for Messrs W Metcalf and Greg Maley.

The Wednesday event was individual stableford when Graham White was an easy winner with a career best of 44 points.

Jim Phillips was runner up with 40 points.

Ball winners were the above two players plus the following: John Mulholland, Sam Hunt, Reg Gilbert, Andrew Rumble, Greg Maley, Michael Brown, Geoff Sennitt, Bob Hutchinson, Basil Wood, Jeff Spender and Alan Wigzell to 34 points on a countback.

Nearest to pin at the 11th was Gordon Hopkins and at the 14th Grahame White.

Saturdays event was reduced in numbers because of the weather, nevertheless a reasonable afternoon field completed the course when Sam Hunt was best with plus one in a par event.

Runner up was Austin Richardson with square.

Ball winners were the above players plus the following: Brian Lamb, Jim Phillips, Peter Edwards, and Don Barsby to minus three on a countback.

Gordon Hopkins was nearest to pin at the 11th and Bill Metcalf at the 14th.

Events for the coming week include an individual stableford on Wednesday and monthly medal (stroke) on Saturday.
