 Farewell 2005

Farewell 2005

26 Aug, 2005 10:13 AM
The Bowral Blacks will play their last match for the 2005 season this Saturday when they take on last-placed Camden at Camden this Saturday.

The last time the two sides met in a competition game, Bowral smashed Camden in a 12-try 68-nil victory at Eridge Park.

The two sides have also met in two Spartan Cup matches, with both sides scoring a win.

The Camden outfit have not recorded a competition win this season, and Blacks coach Robert Taylor said that he hopes the Blacks can continue that record.

"It is important that we do not lose this match this weekend," he said.

"If we can finish the season with a win that will last us all summer.

"It also helps us to take a positive move towards next year."

Although the Blacks last played Camden in their one match this year they were full strength, this weekend they will go into the match without key players.

"We had our biggest win of the year over Camden so we would like to repeat that," Taylor said.

However, the Blacks will be without props Liam Vaughan and Mark Minter, as well as Michael Krebs and Adam Allen.

In good news for Bowral, Taylor said that he thought they would have the same backline that lost to University last week, and hooker Bobby Payne was expected to return to the first grade side.

A number of Bowral players will be hoping for a repeat of the last competition game against Camden, where some players have notched up impressive performances .

Scrum-half Tim Small and number-eight Tom Fleming both had great days against Camden, scoring three tries each in the comprehensive win.

Fleming was awarded two best and fairest points from the referee, with fly-half Daniel Drewe being awarded three points from the man with the whistle.

That game was also the last time representative centre Tim Carney played for Bowral before going to Europe. He also had a good day on the field, scoring two first-half tries.
