Eagles keep premiership dream alive

30 Jul, 2001 10:32 AM

The Highland Eagles U14s girls, with only eleven players and no subs, played Dapto B at Jurd Park on Sunday, coming away with a well-deserved 4-0 victory and cementing their top two position.

The girls dug deep, keeping their cool and tight teamwork together for the entire game.

Taren Jewell scored the opening goal of the match from a great break through the defence, while Jamie-Lee Pollard scored two inspirational goals, one from well outside the box.

The final goal of the match was scored by Tamasin Galea in a great one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

Backing up the efforts of the forwards were some great performances in the midfield and defence from Katherine, the two Jessicas, Kayla, Kelly, Sarah, Ashley and the Eagles goalie, Melissa.

Once again the girls showed their determination and team spirit and have proven themselves to be a force in their competition.

U16 Girls: The girls played Balgownie A on Sunday at Jurd Park.

The game was played in good spirits and once again the Eagles girls came away with a convincing win.

Ros and Jamie scored the Eagles goals, giving the girls a 2-1 win.

The girls have played 12 matches for 5 wins, 5 draws and 2 losses and should finish in the top four.

U16 Boys: played Corrimal at Corrimal on Sunday, coming away with a 2-0 win.

Although the boys made fairly hard work of what should have been an easy win, their form has improved on their last three matches with all of the boys playing well.

With only eleven players and no subs the boys truly earned the points for the match.

Gavin Wise scored both Eagles goals, while Rob Fry pulled off some great saves at the other end of the field.

Tristan Aguirre and Peter Wattel also had good games.

The next game is against Albion Park at Jurd Park on Sunday.
