Chevalier College student Scott Drewe has been selected to play for the NSW Schoolboy's Second XV at the Australian Championships, to be held in Canberra next week.
The Drewe family is certainly no stranger to producing rugby union representatives.
Scott's older brother Daniel is the current fly-half for the Bowral Blacks and is also fly-half for the Country Cockatoos representative team.
In what has turned out to be great news for Scott, the young hooker has been selected in the starting side.
"I did not expect to be selected in the run-on side so that was good to hear," he said.
Scott is no stranger to representative schoolboys football, with the Year 12 student playing in the NSW under-16 schoolboy's side two years ago.
This year he was captain of the ISA Firsts side in the open schoolboy's competition, and last year he was captain of the ISA Seconds side.
Scott is also a co-captain of the Chevalier First XV, a side that he has played in since he was in Year 10.
"We are undefeated in Firsts at the moment so that is going well," he said.
"My main focus is schoolboy footy at the moment, but hopefully next week can lead to a career path in rugby."
The 17-year-old also plays with the Bowral Blacks when his schoolboy commitments are over and played in the premiership-winning under-19 grand final side last year.
This weekend, Scott is off to Joeys in Sydney for a camp and will meet many of his new teammates for the first time in the lead-up to next week's Australian Championship.
"We go into camp at Joeys on Friday and from there we catch a bus to Canberra," he said.
"The championships start on Tuesday and run through to Sunday. We have a warm-up game against the firsts' side, and then we play another four games.
