Damp squib

The first round of two-day matches in the Highlands-Goulburn first grade cricket competition was unable to get a start on Saturday, with rain ruling out any chance of play.

Although Saturday was relatively sunny, early morning rain meant the three scheduled games in the Highlands - Moss Vale v Tully Park at Bradman Oval, Bowral United v Robertson/Burrawang at Chater Oval and Hill Top v Wingello at Welby Oval - had to be cancelled.

The Goulburn match between Coolavin and Workers was also cancelled due to rain. All games are to revert to one-day matches next weekend as a result of the wash-outs.

Wet weather has had a significant bearing on the first grade competition so far, with matches in three separate rounds having been rained out during the one-day competition.
