Cole and Clynes take pairs

21 Dec, 2004 03:19 PM
Harry Cole and Bruce Clynes were the winners of the half hams on Wednesday afternoon at Bowral Bowling Club when 48 men were present for the nominated pairs social bowls.

George Stevenson and Ray Howe were the runners-up, to take home the Christmas cakes and the jackpot of $102 was won by Tom Tallon and Frank Devlin.

On Friday morning a corporate group from Sydney had an entertaining morning on the green, firstly having a brief instruction on how to bowl, and then an organised game.

It was a festive occasion and all were happy as they boarded their bus to return to Sydney.

Thirty men and women played twilight bowls on Friday evening and with the Christmas raffles in full swing, the clubhouse was packed.

Lucky rink winners were Sylvia Handley and Bernie McRae while Christie and Owen Williams were runners up.

The first pennant trial of the season was held on Saturday afternoon, with club members playing each other to become accustomed to the two-bowl game.

Lucky rink winners to take home the bacon (half hams) were Paul Barr, Owen Williams, Athol Hendrie and Geoff Jones.

The runners-up, winning Christmas cakes, were Bradley Glover, Chris Benton, Bill Addie and Terry White.

More pennant trials against a visiting club and a trip away to another club are in the pipeline for early in the New Year.

In another effort to help players to get used to the

two-bowl game, the JWA nominated two-bowl triples will be held on the first Wednesday in January.

A total of $1000 in prizemoney is on offer and as

this will take the place of the normal Wednesday social bowls.
