The Chevalier Firsts, Seconds and Junior A hockey teams all recorded superb ISA Grand Final wins at Homebush Olympic Hockey Stadium last Saturday.
The Firsts' 1-0 premiership success came against their fierce rivals, Oxley College.
The Seconds secured their shared ISA title with St Andrews Cathedral School after a two-all deadlock couldn't be broken in extra time.
The very strong Junior As had a very comfortable 5-0 win over Central Coast Grammar
The Firsts' win came in a nail-biter, made all the better by being an all-Southern Highland's Grand Final. It also reaffirmed the strength of ladies hockey in the region, with all the girls producing a high quality and exciting match.
Playing in front of a large pro-Chevalier crowd provided a fantastic atmosphere for the girls.
Both teams began a little nervously, before settling in to their stride.
Chevalier can thank Jemma Burke for an outstanding game in goals, where she performed a major role in keeping Oxley scoreless. Nikki Lenoli scored the sole goal midway through the second half, and from then on it was just a matter of repelling continuous Oxley attacks.
Oxley won around 18 penalty corners but try as they might, they couldn't find the back of the net.
Chevalier coach Mr Sewell said of the great win: "It couldn't have been any closer. It was very tense but our defence really took the pressure well. With six Year 12 girls in the side, the team had the maturity to absorb what Oxley threw at them. It was also great to see them out as winners, as they have been a great side to coach."
The seconds' draw with St Andrews Cathedral School was exceptionally exciting. The Chev girls led before SACS equalised with a penalty flick in the second half. With scores remaining tied after extra time, the 2004 title had to be shared.
Both senior clashes were no place for the faint hearted, but all the girls handled the pressure well.
