Bowral twos will be forced to playoff for the district pennant after a horror 6-0 (73-44) whitewash at Campbelltown in Saturday's final round.
In what must rank as one of the greatest collapses in the club's rich pennant history, the side has blown a seemingly unassailable 18 point lead three rounds out to finish tied with Campbelltown.
The two sides will now travel to Picton on Saturday for the district pennant playoff.
"This has been a completely disastrous three weeks and I've never seen a lead like the two's had blown," Bowral Bowling Club president Gordon Lewis said.
"On the form they've shown it's hard to know how they're going to resurrect it.
"The team has the quality to win it they just need to forget about the last few weeks."
Bowral needed to win or tie just one rink to claim the pennant and are now on a 17-1 losing streak over the past three weeks.
In Saturday's match, Geoff Boothman's rink was defeated 24-13 and Doug Fahey's rink went down 27-11.
It was Ashley Lewis' rink that had the best chance to play hero though after holding a 12-8 half time buffer but eventually faltered to lose 22-20.
"Campbelltown were just more committed and perhaps a bit of complacency has crept into the twos," Lewis said.
"They should never have got themselves into this situation but they what they have to do now."
In brighter news for the club, the fours officially received its pennants badges on Saturday night and will travel to Camden this Saturday to play Kemp's Creek in the zone playoff.
The Bowral ladies threes have also done the club proud, securing the district pennant last Wednesday.
