Bowral hosts country champs for fourth consecutive year

29 May, 2002 08:35 AM

Bowral Water Polo has been selected to host the Annual NSW Country Water Polo Championships for the fourth time. The Championships are held on the January long weekend each year and the 2003 event has been approved by Council to be run at Mittagong and Bowral Pools. Up to 300 players and their supporters will visit the Highlands over the Championships and if past experiences are any gauge will be out to enjoy good competition and anything else the Highlands has to offer.

Bowral Water Polo Club will be working with Tourism Southern Highlands to provide accommodation and as the program permits, some ideas for filling in spare time.

The Bowral Club has never won a Country Championship in its history but has made many serious attempts.

With some very promising Juniors coming through the ranks, the 2003 Team, spurred on by local crowd support, maybe our chance.

The Club is holding the 22nd Annual General Meeting on Monday the 17th June at the Highlands Golf Club with drinks at 7.00 and the meeting starting 7.30pm.

Besides the standard AGM Agenda, we will be having open discussion about: Leisure Centres; Competition Format; Refereeing and Coaching Clinics and establishing a sub committee for the Country Championships. Club members are encouraged to come along and lend their support to what promises to be another big year for Bowral Water Polo."
