Blacks urged to stay

23 Nov, 2006 07:24 PM
The Illawarra District Rugby Union will urge the Bowral Blacks to remain in their competition next year when Bowral president Val Tyson meets with Illawarra board members next week.

President of Illawarra District Rugby Union Terry Wetherall said the competition would be a lot stronger if all clubs remained after the IDRU agreed to Illawarra playing in the Sydney competition in 2007.

The Bowral Rugby Club president revealed this week he was in the middle of discussions with other south western Sydney teams in a bid to form a new zone within the next two years.

Bowral, Camden and Wollondilly club presidents are scheduled to meet with Illawarra board members on Monday evening to discuss the proposal, but Mr Wetherall said Illawarra did not support the move at this stage.
