They might be the prize catch of Illawarra rugby but Bowral Blacks co-coach Craig Clothier reckons the lure of the club championship is enough to prevent his unbeaten side being baited by Shoalhaven this weekend.
The white hot Blackies return to Eridge Park tomorrow still buzzing after last weekend's emotional away win over the Shamrocks.
But any suggestion the stamina-sapping encounter could count against his charges tomorrow is quickly quashed by Clothier.
"I don't think that will matter because our main aim is still the club championship," he said.
"The beauty of that prize is that the motivation is there every week.
"Last week is history now and we've backed up from big games before this season.
"There's just such a strong commitment and good feeling in this side."
But the Blacks backslapping camaraderie won't mean much to a Shoals team desperate for points and semi-final credibility after last week's humiliating 30-5 thumping by the Tech-Tahs.
"There's no doubt they'll be looking to bounce back," Clothier said.
"They'll be fired up and keen to regain some pride by knocking off the leaders."
Despite handing the Shoals a 30 point pasting in their first clash this season, Clothier maintains the southern rivals boast some potent attacking weapons.
"There backline has always been fit and quick and they have a mobile forward pack that's good at the breakdown," he said.
"There are no easy games in this competition as well so we'll have to be on our game."
The Blacks will go into the match without front rower Liam Vaughan while Robert Taylor will slot into half back in place of Damien Tyson.
