A whirlwind 87 by Aaron Deegan and five wickets by Simon Kazmar has propelled the Wingello Tigers to a 115-run win over Goulburn Railway at Bradman Oval on Saturday.
The first day of the two-day game had been washed out last weekend and, with the match reverting to the one-day 40-over format, Wingello blasted 226 off their 40 overs.
Deegan was well supported in his innings by opener Michael Pike on 31 and Simon Kazmar on 34.
Openers Pike and Bob Lewis got Wingello off to a good start, bringing up 50 runs before the loss of the first wicket.
Needing almost six runs an over for victory, Railway were bowled out for 101 in the 20th over.
The Railway batsmen offered little resistance to the Wingello attack, with Jason Apps top scoring on 46.
Simon Kazmar took five wickets for 22 runs off 22 overs, with James Baldwin taking three for 20, while club president Shane Robson took two wickets for 22 runs.
Robson said that the most pleasing aspect of the game was that the Wingello side batted out their overs.
"Batting out the overs and putting on a competitive total was very important to us," Robson said.
"We certainly needed a win going into the break."
Robson said he was also pleased with Deegan's performance.
"It's his first big score for the year," he said.
