700 attend clinic

26 Sep, 2005 09:45 AM
More than 700 primary school pupils from across the region attended a clinic and gala day of touch football on Friday at Eridge Park.

The event, backed by the Bowral Junior Touch Association, was run by Daniel Rushworth and Phil Jerrett from the New South Wales Touch Association, and by all accounts, the day proved to be a huge hit with the kids.

More than 10 local schools attended the carnival, with 64 teams of 10 taking part in the event.

The games were separated into juniors and seniors; the juniors were for players in Year 3 and 4, while the seniors were for players in Years 5 and 6.

The teams were seperated into competitions for both boys and girls, with a special category for mixed teams.

"This is the 12th year we have run this," Bowral Touch Association director of juniors Ken Adcock said.

"It has just gotten bigger each year.

"All the referees and volunteers for the day came from Moss Vale and Bowral High Schools, and it was great that they gave up their time to support the event."
