All four riders, Jacob Smith, Mark Davidson, Warren Strange and Simon Harslett crossed the ceremonal start of the event at Buenos Aires on January 1.
Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, Harslett was forced to withdraw from the event and return to Australia prior to the commencement of the first competitive stage.
A navigation error on day one during the liaison stage led to a 10 minute time penalty for both Smith and Strange which pushed their standings down despite their great pace.
The riders finished the day in Cordoba, with Smith in 31st place, Strange 85th and Davidson 106th.
Day two consisted of 440km of liasion and 300m of competitive special racing, with the riders finishing in San-Miguel.
Smith had an excellent day to finish in 20th position, and trails the leader by 14 and a half minutes, with close to a three minute lead over the next competitor.
Strange moved up to 40th position, while Davidson fell back to 139th.
Today the men will face a short liason of 231km and 521km of racing with all competitors in San Salvador.
