WATCH out for Viewed in two and a half weeks’ time.
That’s the advice from Burradoo’s Think Big Stud manager Kerry Wisnewski.
After watching Viewed storm home to take the Caulfield Cup by just over two lengths on Saturday, Wisnewski said Viewed was primed to take his second straight Melbourne Cup.
The stud’s staff were surprised by Viewed’s win in the Caulfield Cup because a number of factors were against their star.
“We knew he had prepared very well and we thought he might be thereabouts - fourth, third or even second,” Wisnewski said.
“He was the top weight and Caulfield doesn’t really suit back runners.
“But he proved he was the best stayer in the field and it was a brilliant ride by [jockey] Brad Rawiller.”
Incidentally, Roman Emperor, who the stud has a one-third ownership share in, ran second.
Viewed spelled at Burradoo for six weeks after the autumn racing carnival before he was sent back into training in July ahead of the spring. The Caulfield Cup was his fourth run this preparation and he has firmed into equal favourite for the Melbourne Cup on November 3.
Wisnewski said Viewed was in top shape when he left Burradoo ahead of the spring.
