BOWRAL slumped to another heavy defeat on Sunday, this time at the hands of Wollongong Uni.
The 5-0 one-sided scoreline is nothing new for the Bowral boys this year, but coach Jules Linolli has praised his players who continue to give their all week-in, week-out.
“No matter what, they still put in 100 per cent effort,” Linolli said.
“They have to try and keep their courage up.”
Bowral are winless after matches against each of the other seven teams in the league but Linolli said it wouldn’t be long before their first competition points.
He said his team’s fitness has caused them to be on the wrong end of some floggings.
“Again on Sunday, the other team was fitter,” he said.
“We probably don’t do enough fitness work at training, but we are still a new side with a lot of young players and we are getting better.”
Linolli was confident his team could beat Mittagong this weekend.
o Robertson notched their second win in succession with a 2-0 result against Wests.
One goal either side of the break to Damian Gair and Gus Schofield were enough to seal the win.
Gair said his team was getting better each week.
“We clicked this week,” he said.
“Goalkeeper Mick van Haeff was particularly good.”
o Mittagong suffered its third-straight loss, going down 4-0 to Albion Park.
Mittagong coach Glen Isedale said the match was closer than the scoreline indicated.
“The bounce of the ball just didn’t go our way,” Isedale said.
“We didn’t play well in the first half but we came home strongly in the second.”
Isedale said the team would focus on scoring goals at training this week.
