AFTER another successful season, Robertson Hockey Club held their junior presentation last Sunday at the Robertson Bowling Club.
All four of Robertson’s junior teams made it to the final this year with the under-13a and under-15s both taking home the title.
Families and friends gathered to see the junior players presented with their awards for 2009.

COACHES Danielle Eringa and Jennifer Menzies presented the best and fairest player award to Sam Airey.
Young Airey showed great skill and understanding of the game and displayed sportsmanship.
The coach’s awards were presented to Mackenzye Airey for improvement and consistent good manners and Jordan McGee received her award for her enthusiasm and energy every week.
All players received a good sports award for their wonderful attitude towards their coaches, opponents and each other.
Under-13s
BROOKE Handley took on the role of coach for both the under-13 teams this year and handled the challenge brilliantly.
Both the teams were made up of a mix of new and experienced players.
The system proved to be an effective way of teaching the players the importance of teamwork. Having just enough players to field the two teams, the players often backed up for both teams when teammates were sick, away at camps or at other sporting commitments.
Robo Black made it to the final but bowed out to Burrawang while Robo Gold were minor premiers and defeated Burrawang in the grand final to become the 2009 champions.
Best and Fairest awards for these teams were awarded to; Jack Bennett, Colin Menzies and Jacob Sgouros.
The coach’s awards were presented to Adrian Bishop, Josh Willis, Hayden Veivers and Harry Sutherland.
Under-15s
T HE under-15s also won their grand final when they defeated Burrawang in a very close decider.
Coach Darryl Veivers spoke of how the team started the season slowly but improved every week and towards the end of the season the team really started to gel.
A few good wins were enough to put the team into fourth spot on the points table.
The team earned themselves a place in the grand final by defeating Bowral in the semis and Moss Vale in the preliminary final.
The best and fairest for the team was voted by the players each week and this year the joint winners were Owen Chivers and Jennifer Menzies.
Both players displayed excellent sportsmanship and commitment to their team throughout the season.
The coach’s awards were presented to Emilie Veivers, Tim Eringa and Jacob Sgouros for their consistent effort during every game they played.
