MOUNT Broughton Golf Club’s Alex Simpson has his sights set on a professional career after he played in two of Australia’s biggest tournaments recently.
The Yass boy was disappointed after he missed the cut at the prestigious Australian Open, held at the Royal Sydney Golf Club last week. He was up against 155 top national and international golfers in the 104-year-old Open.
Simpson fired two rounds of 75 to finish six over par, six strokes too many to mix it with the leaders on Saturday and Sunday.
The 25-year-old failed to replicate the impressive form he showed at the Australian PGA Championship at Coolum just days earlier.
