Violence will not be tolerated

12 Dec, 2007 07:58 AM
Moss Vale Basketball Association has shown it will not tolerate any violence on the court by suspending four players for a total of 15 games following a brawl last week.

A fight erupted during the C-grade Knuckleheads Kewlpatrol game last Tuesday night.

Knuckleheads’ Alberto Goodman and Shane Rice have both been suspended for four games for fighting.

Kewlpatrol’s Stephen Strode has been suspended for four games and team mate David Charlesworth for three games.

All the players were repentant for their actions at the judiciary hearing on Monday night.

The association has signalled to all players that this type of behaviour would not go unpunished.

In A-grade men’s basketball on Monday night, TW2 exacted revenge on TW1 with a close 39-37 win.

The five-man TW1 team took control in the first half and led 24-17 at half-time.

TW1’s Jack Chanells rained down five long bombs in the first half on the way to a game high 19 points.

TW2 managed to keep Channells quiet in the second half and he scored just two points.

TW2’s speed and substitutes took its toll on TW1 and it outscored its archrivals 22-13 in the second-half.

TW2’s Todd Bentley hit 15 points and Adam Ismail nailed nine points.

Blazone1 struggled through a two-quarter scoring slump to beat Big Man’s boys (BMB) 32-25.

Blazone shot out to an early 18-5 first quarter led but only scored six points in the next two- quarters.

At three-quarter-time BMB only trailed 24-20.

Poor shot options by BMB and some great fast break basketball by Blazone saw them hold on to win.

Blazone’s Paul Phillips top-scored with 18 points and BMB’s Caleb Croese hit six points in a disappointing offensive effort from BMB.
