SIX polo teams battled for the 66th Ambassadors Cup in the Highlands on the weekend.
The Cup was created by the Federation of International Polo 20 years ago to develop international polo friendships between all members of national associations.
Cup matches have been played in about 30 countries and it was the Highlands turn to host the event.
The Australian team battled against teams from Mongolia, Thailand, Iran, Canada and America.
Thailand and Iran were the two highest ranked teams after the first three days of competition and proceeded to the grand final.
The final was a fiercely contested and tight affair.
Thailand led 5-3 heading into the final chukka. Iran scored in the opening minutes and scored again soon after to level the scores at 5-all. But the second goal was disallowed and Thailand's one goal lead was restored.
Marco Foccocia from Argentia, who was playing from Thailand, then made the Iranians rue missed opportunities by sleading Thailand's charge late in the game to finish 6-4 winners.
Australia beat Canada in the playoff for third while Mongolia ran fifth with a win over America.
