The recent success of the opens women's team at the State championship has been overshadowed by the possibility that the team will not be promoted into the State League competition next year.
The Southern Highlands Hockey Association has launched an informal protest with Hockey NSW.
Orange finished last in State League and therefore were to be automatically relegated to division one.
