Mayor reckons first Test is best yet

Wingecarribee Shire mayor Gordon Lewis has seen the first day of every Ashes series played in Australia for more than 20 years, but the die hard cricket fan rates this year's Test at the Gabba as the best he has seen.

Mayor Lewis was at the Gabba for the first four days of the first Ashes Test and said the atmosphere was tremendous with record crowds eclipsing those at the famous 'Bodyline Series' in 1932/33.

"Ponting's 196 on the first two days was the highlight for me," he said.
