Giant to gallop for Group One glory

25 Apr, 2008 08:02 AM
Sutton Forest based racehorse trainer, Rick Worthington has a shot at Group One glory when his horse, Steel Giant, fights it out for the $1.8 million AJC Derby at Randwick tomorrow.

Worthington truly believes his three-year-old gelding has what it takes to cross the finish line in first place.

“It’s a great thrill to have a horse in a classic Group One race such as the AJC Derby and an even greater thrill having a horse that’s a genuine chance of winning,” Worthington said.

“We have come a long way with this horse in one preparation and hopefully he will get his chance on Saturday.”

Steel Giant has been unlucky in his last two starts - the Randwick Guineas and the Rosehill Guineas - finishing fifth in both races in a three-way photo for third place.
