A DOUBLE to Patris striker Shane Fitzpatrick and goals to Tim Stone and Tomaki Morihira saw Patris blitz Robertson-Burrawang 4-0 in the minor semi-final on Saturday.
Colo Vale outclassed the Rovers from the opening whistle and Robertson coach Damien Plain conceded that his team was the fourth best in this year’s league and probably deserved to bow out in the minor semi-final.
“The teams that are still alive [Exeter, Yerrinbool-Bargo and Patris] have obviously been in the top three all year and they deserve it,” he said.
“The way we have played we don’t deserve to be in the three best teams.”
Patris captain coach Tim Stone said his team stepped up for the knockout match.
“Before kick off we talked about how it was do or die for the rest of the year,” Stone said.
“Matt Wortz was particularly good at left back for us, he has a never give up attitude that I really love.”
Stone said his team was confident they could knock off Yerrinbool in next weekend’s preliminary final.
Patris beat the Bushrangers 3-1 a fortnight ago and drew with the earlier in the year. Colo Vale welcome back centre midfielders Nigel Taker and Josh Corrie on Saturday.
