BUNDANOON A held off a resilient Moss Vale in the woman’s first grade major semi final in blustery conditions on Saturday afternoon.
The Rebels won 2-0 to book a rematch with Robertson-Burrawang in the decider.
Saturday’s score line did not reflect the closeness of the game, as both sides played with equal skill and determination.
Moss Vale controlled most of the ball through the first half and looked the better side.
But Rebels striker Kayleigh Davis had other ideas.
Whenever she had the ball things looked dangerous.
She had three shots on goal in the first half with one shaving a layer of paint off the cross bar as it missed.
At the break, both coaches reminded their sides what was at stake and Moss Vale nearly created a goal straight from the kick off when their strikers were denied by Bundy’s valiant last ditch defence.
Davis broke the dead lock in the 62nd minute with a stunning corner kick.
The Rebels striker placed it perfectly to curl around the near post and over the goalkeeper’s head to make it 1-0.
Moss Vale received what appeared to be a penalty in the box.
After setting up for a penalty kick, the red and whites were informed the incident occurred just outside the box and the free kick would be behind a seven-player wall.
Moss Vale missed the free kick and it seemed to be the final turning point in the game.
Bundanoon dominated from there on and finished off the game when striker Natalie Perry belted a loose ball into the back of the net from the edge of the box.
