Bundy mid picks up junior sports prize

14 Aug, 2009 04:53 PM
LAST fortnight’s Southern Highland News junior game of the week was an under-10s soccer fixture between Bundanoon and Bowral B at Stephens Park.

Despite the freezing temperatures and howling winds, parents and players braved the early morning and created a fantastic atmosphere on and around the miniature sized soccer pitch.

The News’ junior player of the week was Bundanoon midfielder Michael Babula for his fantastic first half goal.

Babula received a lovely ball from the wing and he nailed it into the top right corner of the net from outside the box.

Michael also had an outstanding game all round, with a lot of enthusiasm and talent displayed in all areas.

Bundanoon coach Paul Walker was pleased with his team’s performance.

“The main thing I want my side to take out of playing soccer is teamwork and control,” he said.

These are fantastic qualities that children can learn though playing sport.

This week’s junior game of the week is the under-11s hockey match between Penguins and GG Gladiators at 11am.
