Hawks break duck

25 Jun, 2008 10:31 AM
Round nine produced mixed results for the Highlands Hawks against the Northern District Tigers but the highlight was the under-10s maiden triumph of 2008.

The team had battled valiantly all season and coaches, James Collings and James Carr, were delighted with the result. Chris Alekson's goal came via a clever kick from Hamish Robertson.

Mark Stein had a great game in the under-11s and finished with three goals in his team's 31-point loss to the Tigers. Mackenzie Tyler and Charlie Robertson continued to perform and provide support for experienced players such as Gareth Maples.

The Under-15s kicked accurately to register 9-5 [59] against a much-improved Yellow Tigers but they were still six goals down at fulltime. The loss would have been much greater had Hunter Schraeder-Wright not played a "blinder" in defence. He was well supported by Ben Farrell.
