Cyclists ride for fellow cyclists killed

27 May, 2009 09:59 AM
OVER the past week, cyclists from around the globe have honoured fellow cyclists killed and injured while cycling on public roads.

And at 7.30am on Sunday morning, cyclists from the Southern Highlands stopped to remember one of their own.

Leading the Ride of Silence charge were Andrea and Darren Mikic, who lost their son Ben in a road accident two years ago.

The Mikics led the second group of about 25 riders and later called on all Highlands cyclists and motorists to have more respect for each other on the road.

Starting at Bowral Pool, the three groups of about 80 riders pedalled to Moss Vale and back.

They rode slowly and repectfully - respectful of their lost friend and other road users.
