Wingello posted 200 from 32 overs but the O'Reilly X1 managed to surpass the total off the last ball of the last over.
Bill O'Reilly played 27 tests for Australia in the 1930s and is considered Australia's greatest leg spin bowler.
He took 144 wickets with an average of 23.7.
He played grade cricket with Wingello in the 1920s and 30s.
The game was divided in four 16 over blocks and old school eight ball overs were bowled.
The O'Reilly X1 posted 4-72 off their first 16 overs in response to Wingello's 3-98.
An unbeaten 51 from man of the match Vince Bulger helped the visiting O'Reilly XI win the match.
Bill O'Reilly's grandson Michael O'Reilly captained the side.
Ricky Martin and Shane Robson put on 84 runs for the third wicket to help Wingello post a competitive total.
Martin top scored with 55 runs before being run out in the last over to finish the innings.
Robson made an unbeaten half-century before retiring.
Martin hit six fours and to sixes in great display of top order batting.
Matt Webber made a solid 25 at number eight for Wingello.
Michael O'Reilly was the best of the visiting bowlers and took 2-16 off three overs.
The Wingello XI did not run well between the wickets and were run out four times.
Vince Bulger also had a good day behind the stumps with two stumpings for the O'Reilly XI.
A 50-run fifth wicket partnership between Neil and Vince Bulger was the backbone of the visitors' run chase.
Wingello looked like winning when the O'Reilly XI were 7-154 after 28 overs but Steve Groch ensured the visitors retained the coveted Bill O'Reilly shield.
The last drop smashed 26 runs, including two sixes and a four, as the visitors hit 40 runs off the last three overs to win the match.
Warren Auld was Wingello's best bowler taking 2-23 off three overs.
Andrew Benson took 2-38 off six overs.
Trent Hawksley, Graeme Pike and Webber all took one wicket each.
Wingello captain and club president Arron Degan said it was disappointing to have the last drop win the match for the O'Reilly XI but the day was alot fun regardless of the result.
