MITTAGONG junior cricketer Rheanna Lotter has been named in the NSW team for the Imparja Cup cricket tournament in Alice Springs next week.
The Imparja Cup is an annual tournament played in the Northern Territory for cricketers with an indigenous background.
NSW finished third in the men’s division last year while the NSW women won their competition.
Remarkably it is Rheanna’s third year in the state women’s team - a pretty good effort for the 15-year old.
The first Imparja match was held on Australia Day in 1994 and has since developed into a major competition.
Lotter said all the teams competing were full of Aboriginal players and matches were usually in the super-8s format.
“It gets heaps hot up there so we play about two games per day and they can be early in the morning or at night,” she said.
Lotter’s team is made up of the same players as last year with a number of new recruits who will be hoping to secure a starting spot.
The NSW team is also prepared to play a T20 match, the first of its kind at the Imparja Cup.
Lotter leaves for Alice Springs on Tuesday.
