A day spent chasing the ball around the field did little to help Hill Top Green's hopes of a semi-final berth on Saturday.
The Lions rolled Hill Top by 133 runs, thanks in large part to Andrew McEwan who blasted 119 before he was dismissed lbw.
Andrew Pinkerton (60) and Martin Aungle (55) also put in solid performances with the bat and Mittagong finished their 40 overs with an imposing total of 265.
Hill Top skipper Mark Williams took a wicket in the opening overs, but from there wickets were to be few and far between for the Kookaburras.
Daniel Fairbairn took a couple of late wickets but the damage had already been done.
"They were pretty good batters," Hill Top vice-captain Robert Carter said.
"Our fielding and dropped catches hurt us again."
In reply, Hill Top managed only 132 from 17 overs before they were dismissed.
Justin Madden led the way with 67, and while Reagan Economos and Williams put some runs on the board it was not enough.
Simon McEwan picked up three wickets with Ryan Greer, Andrew Pinkerton and Matt Stokes claiming two wickets each.
While Mittagong have firmly cemented top spot on the ladder, Hill Top have dropped and will now have to fight to make the semi-finals.
Carter said they needed to improve their fielding as well as find a bit of belief in their ability to win matches.
"If we could be a bit more consistent with the bat it would also help us out," he said.
