Skipper Justin Bradley said the first day had gone well for them, claiming a first innings win which he hopes they can turn into an outright win.
Lachlan Smith bowled outstandingly, taking 6-21 to demolish Jemmy Moss for 127 after 36 overs.
Bradley claimed three scalps, and Jack Whitfield also chipped in picking up a wicket.
At stumps, Moss Vale were 5-147 off 45 overs, with Daniel Smith and Ross Webb both top scoring with 33.
Bradley said he was "quite happy" with how they played, but there were a few missed chances which could have had Jemmy Moss bowled out sooner.
He said they are looking to bat out the 70 overs tomorrow and win the match outright.
