THE Indian women will be confident they can come away with a win from their World Cup pool game at Bradman Oval in March after they completed a clean-sweep in their tour matches at Bowral over the weekend.
The visitors beat NSW by 48 runs on Saturday before easily accounting for the Australian under-21s, the Shooting Stars, by 82 runs on Sunday. The Indians posted 7-231 off their 50 overs, while the Aussie youngsters recovered from a disastrous start to finish all out for 149.
The Stars were 5-20 after 11 overs but skipper Jessica Cameron (60) and Connie Hall (21) put on a 74-run seventh wicket stand to salvage some pride for the team. Jhulan Goswami (3-20) and Rumeli Dhar (3-15) opened the bowling brilliantly for India, while off-spinner Seema Pujare (3-30) cleaned up the tail.
All but two of India’s batters hit double figures with opener Thirush Kamini top scoring with 66, while tailender Goswami hit an unbeaten 41.
