A SUPERB all-round display from Samir Banga helped Hill Top win the inaugural Highlands Twenty20 competition on Saturday at Welby.
Hill Top won the match by 13 runs, scoring 3-136 off their 20 overs, with Banga (60 not out) combining with Adam Shute (44) for a 96-run third wicket partnership that revived their innings after a dreadful start.
Banga then followed on with 2/16 off four overs, as he and Steve Koski (2/15 from three overs) restricted Bundanoon to 7-123 from their 20 overs.
After being sent in, Hill Top quickly lost openers Dean Webb for a duck and Alex Martyn for one. Bundanoon’s opening bowlers Tim Stirton (1/19 off four) and Ben Roux (0/10 off four) kept the scoreboard quiet before Banga and Shute began to capitalise on the other Bundanoon bowlers.
By the time Graham Hines dismissed Shute, Hill Top’s recovery was complete, before some big hitting from Banga and Dave Walker (18 not out) increased the run rate.
