HDCA apologises to 'disappointed' life members

11 Apr, 2009 05:44 PM
THE Highlands District Cricket Association has apologised to its life members who did not receive invitations to the association's senior cricket presentation night held last Friday.

Life member Russ Watman said it was the first time in his memory that the life members were not invited to attend the night.

"I have been a life member of the Cricket Association for a long time and it is an honour that I value highly," Watman said.

"I find it very disappointing that the Cricket Association's current officials do not appear to attach any real value to those who have worked conscientiously in the past to organise and promote the game."

HDCA president Jeff Mitchell said the board valued its life members and intended to invite them to the awards ceremony.

"We do have letters on file inviting life members to both the junior and senior presentation nights but something has obviously gone wrong in the process," he said.

Mitchell said the board was keen to have the five living life members involved in the association and offered an apology for the process error which caused them to miss the senior presentation night.

He said the life members would be invited to the junior presentation night which is on May 1 at Moss Vale Services Club.
