Battle of the premiers

29 Oct, 2008 09:58 AM
DEFENDING second grade two-day premiers Bundanoon continued its strong start to its title defence with a three-wicket win over one-day titleholders Robertson-Burrawang at Bundanoon Oval on Saturday.

The 10-man Robertson outfit were bowled out for 127 after 25 overs with Adam Kich (40) and opener Mitch Eccelston (20) leading the scoring. Robertson’s middle order failed to fire and only tailender Ben Wilson (13) showed some resistance.

Bundanoon’s Shane Martin had great day with the ball snaring 5-24, while Tim Stirton took 3-34 and Adam Rocca 1-42.

Bundanoon’s openers made a good start to its run chase with Stirton (30) and Ross Hawke (20) setting up a platform for the middle order. Robertson managed to pick up some middle order wickets cheaply but Bundanoon’s tail wagged strongly. Tailenders Craig Rowley (20no), Ken Rice (12) and Martin Butcher (14no) guided Bundanoon home in the 39th over.
