Wilburys travel into grand finals

A BIG third quarter run helped Travelling Wilbury's 3 take down Chev 31-27 in the A-reserve grade men's major semi-final on Tuesday.

Chev led 15-10 at the half but a 13-6 third quarter saw TW3 lead 23-21 at the last break and they held on to book a grand final spot.

TW3's Ryan Clarke hit 10 points, while Chev's Tom Meyers and Ben Chaumont both scored eight.

The Bus Drivers will play Chev in the preliminary final after they rolled past Kewlpatrol 41-38 in the minor semi-final.

After a tight first half, Drivers won a high scoring second period 25-21 and a game high 22 points from Kewlpatrol's Dayne Hutchinson wasn't enough to steal the win. Driver Blake Channells scored 11 points and Paul Briggs 10.

Bits'n'Pieces accounted for G Pow 30-19 in the A-reserve grade women's major semi-final.

Bits led 18-7 at the half but G Pow fought back in the last period after trailling 22-13 at three-quarter time.

Bits Taleiths Atkins hit 10 points and G Pow's Fiona Resaved got six.

The Hoopstas won the minor semi-final 37-24 against the Jokers.

The game started slowly with the Jokers leading 3-1 at the first break but it soon heated up with the teams deadlocked 21-21 at the last break.

The Hoopstas wiped the smile off the Jokers' faces with a 16-3 last period. Hoopsta Pollie Miller scored 10 points and Joker Olivia Vincent hit seven. The Hoopstas play G Pow in the preliminary final.

Sharp outside shooting from the youngsters in TW4 was the backbone of a 48-36 B-grade major semi-final win over the Grumpy Old Men.

TW4's Mitch Davies top scored with 14 and Nick Bizjak got 13 points. GOM's Chris Ellsmore hit eight.

The Legends were too good for the Rainmakers 38-31 in the minor semi-final. The St Paul's boys led 19-14 at the half before pushing out to a 30-20 lead at the last break.

Legend Reggie Zhong hit a game high 16 points and Rainmaker Daniel Fudge scored 12. The Legends play GOM in the preliminary final.

SPIC booked their spot in the C-grade grand final with a 40-29 win over Circus in the major semi-final.

The Highland Hawks will be keen to get back on the footy field after they were thrashed 45-9 by the L-Platers in the minor semi-final.

The Hawks trailed 19-7 at the half and were kept scoreless in the third as the L-Platers romped home with a 26-2 second half.

L-Plater James Otieno scored eight and Hawk Ben Farrell five points. The L-Platers play Circus in the preliminary final.

o THREE time defending A-grade champions Travelling Wilbury's 1 (TW1) booked themselves yet another grand final berth with a come-from behind 40-37 win over the Bombers in the major semi-final on Monday night.

The minor premiers led at every break but TW1 blitzed them in the last stanza 17-5.

The loss of captain Todd Bentley following a nasty fall midway through the third period grounded the Bombers' attack. Missed free throws late in the game also cost the minor premiers.

TW1's Blake Channells hit 12 points, while Bomber Clint Bentley got 10 and Todd Bentley nine.

In the minor semi-final Blazone's Caleb Croese hit a three-pointer with 15 seconds left on the clock to win the game 36-35 over Drive Thru.

Blazone take on the Bombers in the preliminary final on Monday.

In A-grade women, the Central Aces saw off the She Devils 40-32 in the major semi.

The womens' heavyweight fought a close battle with the Aces narrowly leading 15-14 the first and 23-21 at the long break.

Devils Sandra Mitchell topscored with 13, while Aces Nikkila Thorpe and Mel Wiya hit nine.

Blue beat the Incredibles 32-26 in a similarly close minor semi-final. Blue lead 20-16 at halftime but pulled away 29-18 at the last change. In a seesawing second half Blue won the third 9-2 but the Incredibles hit back 8-3 in the last.

Blue Jodie Handley nailed 12 points and Incredible Kelly Briggs scored nine. Blue play the Devils in the preliminary final.
