Unbeaten Bombers topping table

26 Nov, 2008 09:17 AM
THE Bombers kept their A-grade men’s winning streak intact with a 55-34 win over Blazone on Monday night.

The Bombers led 16-12 at the half before blowing out the game with a 38-22 second half. Bomber Todd Bentley hit 15 points, Scott Bishop 14, while Blazone’s Paul Philips got 10 and Don Croese nine.

Drive Thru managed to chase down old rivals TW1 28-25 after trailing at every break. After TW1 led 19-11 at halftime and 25-15 at three-quarter time Dan Hurst fouled out leaving the door open.

Drive Thru won the last period 13-6 to hand an understrength TW1 their third loss on the trot. TW1’s Jack Channel (14) and Drive Thru’s Alex Watts (11) lead all scorers.

The Pirates had to fight hard to get past a four-man VRFC1 to notch up their maiden win 45-29. VRFC1 led 5-2 at the first break following a confused start but the Pirates rallied to retake control and lead 21-10 at the half.

The Pirates only won the second half 24-19 but it was enough to seal victory. VRFC1’S Paul Finlayson was unstoppable with 17 points, while Pirates Dayne Hutchinson (13) and Chris Ellsmore (8) also played well.
