THE tales of the two Highlands ISA teams couldn’t be any more different after Oxley College won their fourth and Chevalier College lost their fourth game on Saturday.
Oxley cruised to an easy 67-47 division two win over St Stanislaus at Oxley, while Chevalier lost another division one nail biter 84-81 to St Pius.
Oxley’s Tom Young buried the visitors with a game high 31 points, while Morgan Shortt contributed with 13.
Oxley coach Phil Cunich said the team bounced back well from their first loss of the summer to Central Coast last week.
“It was a tight game but we broke away in the second half, particularly in the third quarter,” he said.
Cunich said the team defended well and point guard Alex Syrros had a good game.
Midway through the season, Chevalier’s hopes of breaking into the top-four seemed out of reach after they lost their fourth game on the trot.
Coach Rick Davies said the 53 fouls blown by the officials denied the game any rhythm, but he wasn’t making any excuses.
