To republic or monarchy, that is the question

To republic or monarchy, that is the question

MY thanks to cartoonist Peter Broelman for so succinctly kickstarting - for the upteenth time - the debate that has captivated Australians for decades:?Should we ditch the monarchy and finally become a republic like the majority of other Commonwealth nations?

Over the next few weeks, the News will find out just what Highlanders think about the whole affair - and won’t that make for some interesting reading.

So start sending in your thoughts to the newspaper - you can post them to PO?Box 109 Bowal NSW 2576 or email editor.highlandnews@ruralpress.co m - and don’t forget to add your vote to our special online poll at bowral.yourguide.com.au.

The News will run the different viewpoints - Republic vs Monarchy - as well as poll updates in upcoming editions. It would be great to get your friends and family involved in the debate, too.
