HIP HOP artists, Free Agent Group are rocking the scene this Saturday when they perform at the Highlands Youth Festival and The Royal Hotel.
The group of five Musicians were scouted to play at the Youth festivities to take place in Bowral this weekend.
Knowing that the band were already playing in the Highlands, Royal Hotel Event Manager, Frank Maciaf, saw an opportunity for the boys to share their music with the community.
“Bringing a live band to the Royal Hotel is a great way of bringing the community together.” Mr Maciaf said.
Free Agent group began in 2006 and has continued to grow since then.
“Were best described as a funk-rock Hip Hop band.” Said Lead singer, Simon Grant.
“Some people have described our music as Elton John meets Red Hot Chilli Peppers.”
Part of the bands recent success was when Melbourne record label, Obese Records, signed them up in 2007. They then went on to release a 6-track ep called ‘Ipod’s Killed Cover Art,’ that now features some of their earlier music.
Free agent Group will play this Saturday evening at the Royal Hotel from 9.30pm-late.
National Youth week is hitting the Highlands large this year with all day events at Loseby Park this Saturday.
Youth Liaison Facilitator, Michelle Williams has been planning the event with council workers since April of 2008, making this year's Youth Week the strongest yet.
"The aim of the game is to bring the community together so that people recognise that young people have a voice," she said.
Nine bands will perform varies genres of music throughout the day including Hip Hop artists, 'Free Agent crew,' who recently were signed with Melbourne record label, Obese Records.
Food stalls, mechanical bull rides, spray tattoos and skating competitions are also on the agenda for the day making for some healthy competition.
19 Year-old Josh Crisp has been to the last few youth festivals and is looking forward to riding and meeting new people.
" I made some good friends here a few years ago. It's a great way of getting local youth together," he said.
Over 1000 youth are expected to attend the event and transportation will be provided surrounding villages.
