LAST Saturday's Make A Move festival kicked off youth week with a bang.
Wingecarribee Council youth liaison facilitator Michelle Williams said the day was a great success and that she and all the young people involved were very grateful to those who attended and showed their support.
This is the second outdoor festival to be held in the Highlands, following on from Distraction in 2007.
The day featured a host of local youth bands that attracted a wide audience.
Forty young people put their skills to the test in the extreme sports comp, and many more spectators checked out the BMX, scooter and skateboard competitions and demonstrations.
The festivities all concluded by 7pm, out of consideration to neighbouring residents.
"We understand that there is a level of noise generated from these outdoor festivals that affect the residents of the surrounding areas and we would like to thank everyone for their patience and support of local young people," Ms Williams said.
"As with our previous outdoor youth festival, there were no negative incidents or anti-social behaviour, which is such a positive reflection on the young people who attended."
Ms Williams extended her thanks to all the demo riders and judges, as well as the businesses who donated prizes for the competitions: Moss Vale Sports and Toys, Sports Power Bowral, Kiss My, The Good Guys Mittagong, Empire Cinema and Extreme Sports Wollongong.
