 Woolies plea meets red light

Woolies plea meets red light

26 Dec, 2006 08:33 PM
Supermarket giant Woolworths has tried to force Wingecarribee Shire Council to hold an extraordinary meeting to speed up the development of the Highlands Marketplace.

Their calls for an extraordinary meeting before the New Year follows council's decision to reject Woolworths' motion to defer completion of traffic signals at the intersection of Old Bowral Road and Bowral Road until after the development opens.

Construction of the traffic signals is a condition of consent for the Highlands Marketplace but Wool-worths admitted it cannot complete the work until well after they are due to open.

But council will not be holding an extra meeting this year.
