Winner is Highlands: Ashes battle concludes

The English women's cricket team was jumping for joy on Monday afternoon after they retained the Ashes with a gutsy win at Bradman Oval.

Victorious captain Charlotte Edwards embraced Claire Taylor after Taylor hit after the winning runs for the English.

Chasing 141 to win after the English derailed the Aussies’ second innings, the Poms put on a great batting display to win the match easily.

The English were the underdogs heading into the historic one-off test match at the spiritual home of cricket.

Edwards was over the moon with the win, given the Poms only needed a draw to retain the Ashes.

"It was absolutely fantastic. We definitely wanted to win the game," she said.
