Winds threaten festival

Tulip Time organisers were forced to consider closing events due to gale force winds yesterday.

In Corbett Gardens, heavy gates and outdoor umbrellas were blown over, with small broken branches scattered throughout the park.

Tulip Time organiser Debbie Bonnet said luckily no large branches had broken and that if the wind continued, the Gardens would be closed early.

"It's a hazardous and dangerous environment but luckily, nobody has been injured," she said.
