An international expert on water is the Labor Party's candidate for one of the driest seats in the state.
Berrima civil engineer Robert Parker has been selected as the Labor candidate for Goulburn in the March 2007 state election.
Mr Parker, 55, has worked on major infrastructure projects in Australia and overseas for 30 years.
As a result of work such as hydropower projects in Son La and Dong Nai in Vietnam and the provision of a water supply to Asmara, the capital of Eritrea, he is recognised as an expert on the impact of population, growth, global warming and climate change.
