A WAR of words is set to erupt between Goulburn state Liberal MP, Pru Goward, and the Public Service Association of NSW (PSA) after the Union denied claims that Ms Goward was refused the right to speak at a rally.
Wednesday’s Macquarie Street rally, which was protesting against the privatisation of prisons in NSW, saw up to 2000 unionists send a message to state parliament over security concerns following privatisation.
In a press release sent to media on Wednesday, Ms Goward said she had “sought permission to speak at the rally, but was refused”.
However, general secretary of the PSA, John Cahill, said that Ms Goward’s comments were “a pack of lies”.
Mr Cahill said “she did not participate in the rally and only asked if she could get up and speak after everything was finished”.
Ms Goward yesterday stood by her media statement, re-affirming she sought the opportunity to speak at the rally.
