The Australian wine industry may be experiencing a wine glut, but in the Southern Highlands there's no such problem, according to the local vigneron association president.
With an oversupply of grapes and a backlog of wine from last year's record vintage, the wine industry is facing its worst year on record in 2006.
But Southern Highlands Vigneron Association president Alastair Graham said the region's speciality in cool climate wines and boutique wine-making meant the Southern Highlands would not experience the effects of oversupply.
"The wine industry is pretty much in the doldrums at the moment, but we're unique in that we're a cool climate area and a young area," Mr Graham said.
"So we'll be able to use our stock this year."
